St Martin’s Project
At Christkindlmarkt, we aim to put the KIND in Christ-KIND-lmarkt by celebrating St. Martin’s Day. St. Martin’s Day is a holiday that honors a soldier who gave the coat off of his back to save a freezing man. In Germany, children make paper lanterns and parade though town. At Christkindlmarkt, we celebrate this holiday during the market with our own Lantern Parade and the St Martin’s Project that supports a different local charitable organization each year. Just as St. Martin did all he could to extend Kindness and relieve suffering we invite you to support this year’s St. Martin’s project.
The Other Side Village
This year's project will benefit The Other Side Village. The Other Side Village offers a "Human First" approach to ending homelessness. This organization is building a community of healing and purposeful living, where every home has a story and every person has a future. During the market, we will be collecting Welcome Home Kits which consist of 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 wash cloths, and 1 bath mat placed in a reusable grocery bag.
Bring your donation to the market, and drop it off at our St. Martin’s booth in the center plaza of the market. Donations will be accepted during market hours: Dec 3th-6th from 11:00am-8:00pm.
Please also consider making a monetary donation to The Other Side Village by credit card or cash. Monetary donations will be accepted at either the St. Martin’s booth in the center plaza or one of our Information booths, located near each Christkindlmarkt entrance. All donations will go directly to The Other Side Village, where your kindness and generosity will make a great difference in the lives many.
